Gabriel C

Gabriel Ch was placed with us in late 2012 and has lived as part of our family since then.
The social workers had not completed the placement by May 2013 despite our director having attended court twice on his behalf in December 2012.
He was intentionally burned by his grandmother and tied to a tree for four days.
Gabriel was brought to us from the hospital, with no shoes.
We were given no finance whatsoever for his upkeep.
His feet were so damaged and keloided that normal shoes would not fit.
We gave the then seven-year-old boy, Dorah's soft pink suede size 5 boots to wear.
The picture here is of his feet after surgery.
The toes still do not touch the ground.
The little boy waddles like a duck.
We asked for pressure garments to be sewn before his surgery.
He still does not have pressure garments.
We have asked for his medical records repeatedly since November 2012 - from social workers, from surgeons.
We still do not have them.
Gabriel has many issues to deal with.
One of them is a broken heart.

Gabriel's arms were tied to the tree for four days. As he could not handle the pain, a hospital procedure as carried out to sever nerve endings.
The details of the procedure have not been made available to those of us who are looking after him.
